I already have the Lotos MIG welder and that thing has been an absolute workhorse, so when I stumbled across this Lotos plasma cutter, I figured, “Well… if it’s anything like the MIG, it’s probably a beast.” I’m not exactly fluent in plasma cutting, I’m more of a “let’s not set anything on fire today” kind of operator, but I ordered it anyway thinking it would be a good starter machine at a great value. Then I took it out of the box and instantly felt two things at once: intimidated… and impressed. It gives off the same steady, dependable vibe as my MIG, like it’s just waiting for instructions.This Lotos Apex LTP5600CD is serious equipment. It’s heavy in that reassuring, “yep, this is built to last” sort of way. Once it’s on the ground, it feels like it could survive a small earthquake and then ask what’s next, without the size being to big.It comes with everything you need to get going: the torch, ground clamp, consumables, and the built‑in air compressor already plumbed in. No extra hoses, no dragging out a separate compressor, no “wait, I’m missing a part” moment. That alone made setup feel a lot less intimidating. The only thing it didn’t include was a 110/120V plug adapter, so keep that in mind if you need dual voltage flexibility.The controls are refreshingly simple. Big power switch, clear amperage knob, indicator lights that tell you when the compressor is running and when the machine is ready. The LED display is bright and easy to read whether you’re in full sun or hiding in the shade trying to look like you know what you’re doing. The manual isn’t exactly a deep technical dive, but it was enough to keep me from feeling like I was about to summon lightning.Once I had everything connected, I tested it on a metal bar. The arc started cleanly, and the machine didn’t complain about my beginner technique. The cuts were accurate and smoother than I expected, not “professional fabricator” smooth, but definitely “I didn’t ruin anything” smooth. The compressor makes some noise, but nothing dramatic, and the cooling fan kicks in quickly to keep things steady.Overall, this plasma cutter is built like a tank, straightforward to use, and surprisingly beginner friendly. If it can make me feel competent on my first try, someone with actual experience is going to have a field day with it.

I have another brand plasma cutter that is my go to but I wanted to try the built in air compressor deal. Man, it is so much easier on me! It is a pain to drag my compressor setup from the house to the backyard to do the cutting. With this, I can just drag this out and get to cutting so much quicker. The quality is top notch as well. So much so that I am not sure I will be dragging ol' red and black out anymore. I just have quick relatively thin cuts to do and this fits me like a glove. I have zero complaints and nothing but appreciation for this machine.

This is easy enough to use, very heavy and sturdy, and the added built-in air compressor is a nice bonusMinus one star because it was missing the nozzles, but we just picked up replacements locallyWe just ran some light tests, but it seems to work well, and I think it's worth the cost

TL;DR:Excellent plasma cutter with strong performance if you understand its power limits. Built-in compressor is convenient but power-hungry. With adequate power (or an external compressor), it cuts stainless and mild steel extremely well. Outstanding customer service. Expensive compared to the all-in-ones, but worth it for prosumer use.Update: I got the cutter hooked up to a dedicated 50 240v 50amp plug today and the thing cuts like a monster turned up to 56a. Included pictures of 14ga stainless with basically perfect cuts and no dross. It was cutting about as fast as I could move my hand. Really can't ask for more.The LOTOS Apex LTP5600CD plasma cutter with built-in air compressor is a very capable machine, but it’s one where understanding power and air requirements really matters. After real-world use — primarily cutting stainless steel — it earns five stars when set up correctly.OUT OF THE BOX & SETUPOut of the box, the only minor issue was a slightly bent 220V plug. Not a functional problem and easy to straighten, but better packaging would help. Also important: there is no 220V-to-120V pigtail included, so plan to buy one if you don’t already have 220V available.It does include a drag-cut setup, which is excellent and the preferred way to use this cutter. Drag cutting is smooth, controlled, and produces very consistent results.CUSTOMER SERVICE (EXCELLENT)LOTOS customer service was outstanding. I initially thought the machine was defective due to instability at higher amperage, and they shipped a full replacement unit the next business day. That level of support is rare and deserves credit.As it turned out, the machine itself was not the issue.BUILT-IN COMPRESSOR – CONVENIENT, BUT POWER-HUNGRYThe built-in air compressor is very convenient, especially for portability, but it draws a lot of power.At first, my machine would only cut for a few seconds above ~30 amps. This was not a defect. It was voltage sag caused by the combined load of:The plasma cutterThe internal air compressorOnce I switched to an external air compressor, the difference was immediate. I was able to run 40 amps continuously and reliably.STAINLESS VS MILD STEEL PERFORMANCEMy primary use case is stainless steel, which is far more demanding than mild steel. The jump from 30A to 40A made a huge difference in cut quality, speed, and arc stability. It’s not cheap, but for prosumer or light professional use, it’s a strong value.

The 5600CD came packaged well - the instruction / setup manual is a little vague but the video helped me dial it in. The best thing was the customer service. I emailed customer service with an air compressor question, within 2 hours the had emailed me back with an answer - great service - unit cuts great - looks great - perfect for my hobby welding shop.
